OLYMPICS
If the United Arab Emirates is going to hold the 2008 Olympics, two
cities will be considered to host it, Abu Dhabi the capital and Dubai
the commercial capital. Both cities have good qualities to host the
Olympics, but also they have differences that could affect the choosing.
In general, Abu Dhabi is similar to Dubai that they are the biggest two
cities in the country. Also, both of them have good facilities that make
it easier for the Olympics. But to choose one city to host this big
event, we must compare and consider many factors. First of all, Dubai
has a better airport than Abu Dhabi. It's bigger and more experienced,
since more tourists, visitors and businessmen go to the city. In
addition to that, Dubai has more hotels, but that does not mean Abu
Dhabi is not good in the hotels field. It has many good hotels; however,
Dubai city still has better hotels like Burj Al Arab, which is
considered seven stars hotel. On the other hand, Abu Dhabi has more
stadiums to host the Olympics than Dubai. Moreover, Abu Dhabi city have
been holding many sports events that makes it more experienced in
organizing and systematization the Olympics. As regards the traffic jam,
Dubai city is far more crowded than Abu Dhabi. Many times of the day,
Dubai has traffic jam, while Abu Dhabi has rush hours only in the
morning and the early evening. And in spite of Dubai city crowd, it has
some kind of advantage. Dubai has many places that open 24 hours,
whereas Abu Dhabi has only couple of small stations that open 24 hour.
And though Dubai is more tourism city that has good market and many
festivals, Abu Dhabi is quieter and more beautiful.
Finally, if I would choose one city, I'd rather to choose Abu Dhabi city
to host he 2008 Olympics event. It has more stadiums, which is the most
important thing. Also, it is more experienced in organizing such an
event and the city is quieter even though Dubai attracts many tourists.
